This camp was initially designated Stalag 337 Mantua. It is reported to have opened November 1943.  Apparently, in 1944 it was re-numbered Stalag 339. It then became Dulag 339, possibly from August 1944.

Dulag 339 was a German controlled camp for prisoners being transferred from Italy to Germany.

Mantua is a comune in Lombardy, Italy. It is located about 45 miles (72 km) north of Modena.

Note: Distinct from PG 339 Pisa, Tuscany and Stalag 339 Trieste, North Eastern Italy, south of Udine..
