How to search the Photo Archive
1. Click on this link: LAMSDORF PHOTO ARCHIVE 2. Click on the magnifying glass symbol (shown here by the red arrow):
3. Then click on the other magnifying glass symbol higher up (shown here by the red arrow) and type in the name or word that you want to search for, and press 'enter' on your keyboard: (it is not case-sensitive, so you can use capitals or small letters)
You can search by the SURNAME of a POW or by
service (eg army, navy, RAF, RAAF, RCAF RNZAF, etc), regiment, squadron or other unit
place where captured
POW camps (always use Roman numerals eg VIIIB not 8B etc) or the location of the camp
Working Party (eg E123 or the name of the location of the Working Party, or its activity - eg mine, farm, sugar mill, etc).
Other search words you can use include: theatre, music, football, cricket, rugby, church, education, medical, Red Cross, escape, partisans, long march, died (ie died whilst a POW), unidentified individual, unidentified group. If you want to use other search words, try and see if it works.
To find all POWs of a certain nationality, use one of these abbreviations in the search box: Aus - Australia Can - Canada CZ - Czechoslovakia Fra - France Gur - Gurkha (Nepal) Ind - India Ita - Italy Pal - Palestine/Israel (during the Second World War the territory was known as Palestine) Pol - Poland NZ - New Zealand SA - South Africa UK - United Kingdom USA - United States of America Oth - any other nationalities
