The Armia Krajowa (AK) was the dominant Polish resistance movement during the Second World War. It was formed in February 1942. By 1944 its membership was probably around 400,000. It was disbanded in January 1945.
James McGinn was imprisoned at Lamsdorf during the second world war but escaped, joined the AK but was then shot by the Germans.
His friend Richard Marrin survived. Both were mentioned by the AK in a letter to McGinn's family.
