Subject: RE: prisoner of war

My Dad JOHN (JACK) CLARKE enlisted into Royal Horse Artillery on 20/7/1937 and then joined the B.E.F. on 20/4/1940 on joining he was despatched to France where he fought rear guard and provided cover and held off the Germans so the allies could get of the beaches.

He was captured at DUNKIRK on 29/5/1940 and transported to Lamsdorf/Stalag 344/VIIIB where he spent the rest of the war in captivity. His army number was 868632 and his PoW number was 12848.

He told me he escaped three times and that he met many friends in camp He was part of the many thousands of prisoners on the death march from the camp in 1945, I would love to find out about his life in captivity.
