To the record keeper for Stalag VIIIB.                                            29th November 2011

My father was Stanley John Scott, Army #2039022, Royal Engineers, 221st Army Field Company, Sapper. He was captured at Dunkirk and was a POW from June1940 to April 1945. He spent his time at Stalag VIIIB working in the coal mines in the area. He did learn to read some German while he was there.

My wife had a Uncle, Frederick Betts who was also there during the same time. My father Stan and uncle Fred grow up in Battersea, London and went to the same school. They met again at Stalag VIIIB, we have a group photo with Stan and Fred in it.

Stanley Scott second back row, sixth from left, Fred Betts sitting on the next row in front of Stanley Scott.

I have sent the photo to you as a attachment. It is very interesting to see the same building in other photos on your web site.

From Mr. Robert Scott.
