Tamplin
Lloyd John Tamplin
The attached picture is displayed in regimental museum of the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers at Monmouth Castle. The museum kindly sent me a copy. I thought you might like a copy for your archive.
I’m currently researching my wife’s grandfather, Lloyd John Tamplin, who was a POW at Stalag VIIIB Lamsdorf.
Coming from Newport, South Wales, he served in 100 Company Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers.
He was taken prisoner near Dunkirk, at a town called Cassel, on 27th May 1940. On the same day that he was taken prisoner, his younger brother Hector Douglas Tamplin, who served in the same company was killed in action against the enemy at Cassel. His body was never found.
We understand that Lloyd Tamplin (rear row second from left) took part in the Long March to Freedom but cannot confirm this.
