Subject: Cosel/ Lamsdorf death march

My father Dr W.T.G Atkins (Australian) arrived at Lamsdorf in December 1943, having spent 1 ½ years in Italian camps around Naples. He was in the British 8th Army, Essex Regiment, and captured after Tobruk fell. From Lamsdorf hospital, he was transferred to a Cosel hospital on 04.04.44.

Photo below of Cosel medical staff September 1944, with signatures on the back, my father is second from the right at the back.

My wife and I visited Lamsdorf (Lambinowice) in May 2013 and visited the Museum where we met Anna, who was very helpful. Following further research, we are returning to this area in May this year, staying at Opole, and hope to travel from there to visit local areas of interest and follow a similar route as described above.
