Cedric Clarkson was captured on Singapore on 15th February 1942. He was held in a number of camps:

  • Changi Singapore,
  • River Valley Road Transit camp,
  • Padang,
  • Tekon Island

and was put to work in Working Party: Group 4

He died when the  Rakuyo Maru was sunk off East Hainan Island, Lat 18.0 N, Lon 114.0E.

The Rakuyo Maru was torpedoed by US submarine Sealion off East Hainan Island at around 5:00am. It sank on 12/09/1944.

1159 men perished. Cedric was 32 years of age.
