I have just been looking up information about the camp, as my uncle was a prisoner there (see the attached newspaper clipping from 1944). Sgt John (“Jack”) Reid Rowland came from Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and was captured in the Western Desert in February 1942. He was serving in the 102nd Anti-Tank Regiment of the Royal Artillery.

I knew about him surviving the forced march, which badly affected his health for the rest of his days.
