Ernest Arthur Spooner of the Kings Royal Rifle Corps was a POW in Lamsdorf after being taken prisoner on Crete.

The Kings Royal Rifles with their comrades from other regiments fought against huge superiority in Crete. In strange and difficult country with no air support they fought until overwhelmed. Four officers were killed in Crete and most of the personnel, many of whom were wounded, were taken prisoner.

He was also on Long March in 1945. He was liberated by the U.S. Army.
