My late father was a POW at Stalag VIIIB Lamsdorf from about August 1941 until the 26/05/1945. He was captured at Crete in May 1941.
His name was Lance Corporal Comer Board of the New Zealand 18th Battalion.

His Army number was 23825 and Prisoner Number 7662.

I found this photograph amongst his possessions along with a list of names which I have placed on the front.

On the back the photo it is says, “Taken at Grosse Miihle (Flour Mill) Neisse 1942. The soldiers are from Australia New Zealand and the UK.

I believe this town is now called Nysa which about 21km from Lamsdorf. My father spoke of working in the flour mill as part of the prison life.

Editor’s Note: WO392 POW Lists 1944 and 1945 state the rank as Private.
