My Grandfather, Bertram Noss, was held at Camp 344. He was with 5th Battalion Hampshire Regiment, captured at the battle of Sidi Nasir 26th February 1942. He was taken to PG66 Capua in Italy where he was held for 12 months.

He was then transferred to Lamsdorf 344 in April 1943. He was on the working parties where he was a bricklayer working in the coal mines. He started on the long march, but escaped and was ‘rescued’ by the Russians. He was repatriated through Odessa arriving back in the UK on 25th March 1945. Discharged from the Army in August 1945.
