E594 Königshütte Ost

Location(s):
Königshütte East (now Krolewska Huta, Chorzów, Poland)
Camp

In 1915, the enormous agricultural demand for calcium cyanamide prompted the construction of a chemical plant in the Upper Silesian town of Königshütte (now known as Chorzow).  Work continued there during world war II although it is not certain if the product was used for the same purpose. It is estimated that around 197 prisoners may have worked at the plant.
