My father, Carl Denby was a prisoner of war from 1940 to 1945 and spent some time in the Lamsdorf camp. 

Regiment – 1st battalion, Rifle Brigade

Enlisted – 1933 (gave date of birth as 4/1/1913 although he was born Arthur Deering on 3/1/1916)

Captured – Calais 26/5/1940

 

POW camps

  1.       Sep 1940-May 1941 – Ampstall ? Poland. Worked in House Demolition
  1.       May 1941 – Jul 1941 – Stalag XXI D Posen, Poland. Worked on Land Reclamation
  1.       Aug 1941 – Mar 1945 – Stalag 344 Lamsdorf. Working Party E256 worked in Zuckmantel as labourer in a Jam Factory
